CREDIT CARD FRAUD THE ANSWER
APPEARANCES
The Rhino will give you the answer to the credit card fraud he was subjected to (see blog entry below) but first a appearance update. If you live in the Denver metro area you will be able to see the Rhino this month. Just go to www.bighornmusic.com and push the appearance button. The first appearance will be on the Rhino’s birthday September 9 Sunday at 7pm:
Ironworks12354 W Alameda Parkway
Lakewood, CO
303-985-5818
This will be the last open mike for the Ironworks so stop out and enjoy the many artists Warren Floyd, moderator has cultivated at the club. Can’t make it check my appearance button in a day or two I want to be sure the open mikes I play are still a go. The nice thing about open mikes is there is always time to talk and get to know each other. So, if I have met you before or you came to a show PLEASE reintroduce your self.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Here is an answer from the company that was misrepresented in the phishing scam that hit the Rhinos card. When they say 10’s of thousands were hit it sounds like a computer program. Banks have lured Americans into debit and credit cards. This is there problem and I would suggest their laibility. They should be responsible to replace cards and notify card member accounts in 48 hours.
If we can ever get the FBI to stop chasing terrorist, (The 21 century federal government excuse for ineffectiveness) They might make computer fraud a high priority. Here is the e-mail I received:
It appears that someone is using our donation number to fish for valid credit card numbers.
We have an online credit card donation site that we provide a link to from October to early January to receive donations from people that are eligible for the Arizona tax credit for donations to schools. (Most people make tax donations just before year-end, which explains the
timing.)
Since January, we removed the link from our school web site. On Aug. 14th, we received a $1.00 rejected donation, with no other activity from April until Sunday. It appears that tens of thousands of $1.00 transactions have been attempted, beginning yesterday. We canceled the donation account this morning as soon as we identified what was happening.
We have also gotten a half dozen calls from across the country from people who received a $1.00 charge with our name on it this morning. We are telling everyone who calls with a similar situation to cancel their card immediately.
That's about all that we know about at this time. I'll let you know if I find out anything more. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
